Am I required to take English classes during my studies at AIT?

AIT requires students to reach proficiency levels equivalent to 550 in TOEFL, 213 in computer-based TOEFL, and 6.0 in IELTS.

Students entering with lower scores than these must take up to three courses of academic and technical English.

All students are given an English placement test on arrival at AIT.

When will I have to attain the required level?

Before graduation. The sooner you attain the required level, the more time you will be able to devote to your academic discipline.

What are AIT's entry requirements for English language?

Applicants are required to produce evidence of proficiency. AIT accepts scores of 520 on TOEFL, 190 on computer-based TOEFL, and 4.5 on IELTS.

Are there exceptions to this requirement?

If you attained a previous degree at a university where the sole medium of instruction is English, AIT waives the requirement for standardized test scores. Formal certification by that university is then required.
