A research report should follow a specific style.
Check with your Program secretary whether your School / Program
has a specific Style Guide. If they do not have
one, you can follow the AIT
Style Guide.
A useful tool to learn properly is your wordprocessor
(Microsoft Word seems to be the most commonly used). You should
learn to use styles: this means you define in advance the parameters
of your document. For example, you decide what your headings will
look like.
Have a look at this AIT
thesis template in Microsoft Word.
Unity of style is
key! Whatever format you choose,
be consistent and keep it until the end. Do not
change fonts within the same document! At AIT, most people use
Times New Roman 12.
Be careful! Most formatting mistakes appear in the
List of References. Make sure you know how to
format your references. This point was addressed in Unit
2, remember?
